1Day 1 Palermo / Mazara del Vallo / Selinunte

Meeting at Palermo airport with the guide and continue to Mazara del Vallo. Free lunch. In the afternoon, visit Mazara del Vallo, a charming and ancient town in western Sicily. The characteristic port canal hosts the largest fishing fleet in Italy. In the historic center, you can see interesting Arab/Norman buildings, numerous Renaissance and Baroque churches. The original structure of the old town is formed by the “Kasbah,” with narrow and winding streets that open onto characteristic courtyards. Inside the Church of Sant’Egidio is the “Museum of the Satyr,” where you can admire the bronze statue of the “Dancing Satyr,” which has become famous worldwide. Found by a fishing boat in the spring of 1998 in the waters of the Sicilian Channel, it represents a mythological “demon” that was part of the orgiastic procession of the god Dionysus. Transfer to a hotel in the Marsala, Mazara del Vallo, or Selinunte area, check-in to the reserved rooms. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

2Day 2 Mozia / Marsala / Selinunte

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, visit the lush island of Mozia and its museum, one of the most interesting for understanding Phoenician/Punic civilization in the Mediterranean. All around, the salt pans, windmills, and vineyards create a naturally charming setting. Return to Marsala, located in Sicily’s most important wine region. It’s essential to make a brief visit to a winery to learn the secrets and appreciate the famous wine that bears the city’s name: “Marsala.” Next, visit the picturesque historic center of this ancient city, which has played a prominent role in the culture and history of our island since Roman times. Free lunch. In the afternoon, visit the archaeological area of Selinunte, considered the most important in Europe for the grandeur and extent of its ruins. Here you can admire the magnificence of the temple and the ruins of Temples F and G located on the eastern hill, and the Acropolis, perched on a promontory overlooking the sea, once flanked by two rivers. The ancient city was surrounded by powerful fortification walls, protecting the houses, temples, and main public monuments. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

3Day 3 Riserva dello Zingaro / San Vito lo Capo / Selinunte

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, transfer by coach to the port of San Vito lo Capo. Embark and visit the coast in front of the Zingaro Reserve, the first nature reserve in Sicily with 7 km of rugged coastline, rich in coves, steep cliffs, and sea stacks. Stop for a swim. During the navigation, there will be a stop to admire the sea stacks of Scopello, which rise in front of the eponymous tuna fishery, and for another swim. Simple lunch on board with typical products from the tuna fishery. Return to San Vito Lo Capo, a typical fishing village. Here you can sunbathe on the renowned white sandy beach and swim in the clear blue waters. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.

4Day 4 Agrigento / Palermo

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Agrigento, home to some of the most important ancient Greek relics in the world. Visit the famous Valley of the Temples: Temple of Concordia, Temple of Juno, Temple of Hercules, and Temple of Castor and Pollux. Free lunch. In the afternoon, visit the historic center of Agrigento, characterized by narrow alleys and unique squares within an urban structure of Arab origin, although some of its oldest and most representative historic buildings are of Norman origin. Transfer to a hotel in the Palermo area, check-in to the reserved rooms. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

6Day 6 Monreale / Monte Pellegrino / Palermo

Breakfast. In the morning, visit Monreale with its Cathedral and its famous mosaics, and continue with the Benedictine Cloister. Return to Palermo for free lunch. In the afternoon, passing through the Favorita Park, you will reach Monte Pellegrino, described by Goethe as “the most beautiful promontory in the world.” Visit the Sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, the patron saint of the city. Continue to Mondello, a fishing village and famous seaside resort, characterized by a sandy gulf with tropical colors. Free time for a pleasant walk and to enjoy delicious artisanal ice cream. Transfer to Falcone and Borsellino Airport (Palermo).
